Various online reports this morning state that Microsoft is closing production of its SideWinder range of PC gaming peripherals, which includes everything from basic joypads to high-end force feedback flight controllers.
According to the company, the decision was made following the decline of sales of PC gaming peripherals, as most modern releases rely on either mouse and keyboard combinations, steering wheels or bespoke controllers of some kind.
Microsoft did, however, commit to continued support of third-party gaming products, as part of its ongoing Windows XP development schedule.
