Wario World
Mwaa ha ha ha! It's the evil one with the purple nose and he's still up to no good. Wario World is actually due out on the GameCube next month (June 20th), so we won't have wait too long to join in his quest for evil. It's a typically bizarre storyline: Wario has accidentally turned all his gems into monsters. Oh no! Obviously, you'll need to find all these monsters and turn them back into gems, all with the assistance of some fairies. It goes without saying really.

Mario Golf
Our moustachioed friend is no stranger to a pair of plus-fours tucked into his Argyles, and he's stepping back on to the fairway. As you would expect, the Gamecube version of Mario Golf will pitch the usual suspects (Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong, et al) against each other in an exaggerated, brightly coloured atmosphere. Predictable, but surely entertaining.

Mario Kart Double Dash
The hugely popular off-spin of the original Mario series is generating a fair amount of excitement at the moment. The new GameCube version follows the same premise as before - it is, after all, a racing game. However, this time round you can have two drivers per kart - one character does the driving and the other takes on an attack position. This will add an interesting new angle to the game often hailed as the best ever multiplayer title. The new vehicles may disappoint some purists as the karts have superficially developed into various vans and tractors. But the gameplay should remain unaffected.

Mario Advance 4
The final Mario-based game generating rumours at E3 is Mario Advance 4, to be released on GBA in November (Japan). In essence, Mario Advance 4 will be a straightforward adaptation of Super Mario Bros 3 (NES) with a few graphical tweaks to ease the transition onto the small screen. Bearing in mind SMB3 is regarded by many as THE classic 2D platformer, things are looking pretty good.
