New Nintendo hardware revealed!

Swap share files via PC and more!

Nintendo of Japan has revealed several new pieces of hardware, in a surprise move before E3.

Specifically, a new version of e-Reader, a device that takes information to the GBA via small indented plastic cards, only available in Japan and the US at present, was revealed, carrying the name e-Reader Plus. The new device, which interestingly looks like it was designed for use with an Xbox, is able to link to either GameCube or other GBA systems and is capable of storing e-Card data, even if the GBA is powered down.

Next comes the GameCube Memory Card SD Card reader, a device that fits into the standard memory card slot on the GameCube. As you can see from the accompanying image, it has a slit in its side that accepts Panasonic SD generic media storage cards. This will increase the storage capacity per GC slot to up to a gigabyte, silencing criticism that the GameCube memory storage system is antiquated.

What’s more, the SD cards are PC compatible, enabling save files to be swapped over the Internet.

It’s all good. Stay tuned for more, soon.
