Wired Magazine has run an article claiming that Microsoft is offering id Software trucks full of cash to make Doom III an Xbox exclusive title, citing financial power will win over the FPS powerhouse developer.
Amazingly, everyone seems to have forgotten John Carmack stating clearly last year that “without question, the Xbox is the only console I would consider capable of running any version of Doom III.”
Indeed, some stories today point towards Carmack’s “very strong feelings about cross-platform computing” as evidence that a PlayStation 2 version will be seen at some point.
Other stories talk of the Doom III for Xbox still being unconfirmed, despite Carmack himself confirming the existence of the game back in August of last year, when he stated that the Xbox outing would have the “full graphics fidelity” of the PC original.
We expect to bring you a hands-on with Doom III on Xbox, and hopefully spend some time with id staff, from the showfloor of next month’s E3.
