Nintendo has finally, and officially, announced its intention to release a Metroid Prime sequel, daringly titled, at least for now, Metroid Prime 2.
Although no details were released, Nintendo did confirm that Retro Studios, the development house that had to be fully acquired in order to keep the original on track, will be again in charge of the project.
“A follow-up to the hit Metroid Prime is in development. No release date or other information is available at this time,” was the official word from Nintendo today.
We are also prepared to go out on a limb and say that Metroid Prime 2 is likely to be a first-person shooter, starring a lady in a robosuit, for GameCube.
Expect to see something at this year’s E3.
