Digital Extremes has revealed on several UT forums that it will be patching its Xbox Live shooter Unreal Championship, to address certain issues within the game.
To be delivered free via Xbox Live, or sent out on disc to non-subscribers, the patch will fix frame-rate slowdown and gameplay imbalances that have dogged the otherwise strong console FPS.
Now the question is, will this become the norm for Xbox games and should it be welcomed? Of course, fixes to issues post-release are a good thing, but there is danger that publishers will force developers to rush out games, knowing that any problems can be patched at a later date.
