Uncle Sony needs you

Only if you've got broadband though...

Sony have announced that spring 2003 is the period scheduled for the roll-out of their European online gaming trials and, according to the official Playstation website, Sony needs you!

Playstation.com are giving UK broadband-enabled gamers the chance to get their PS2’s online months before the Network Adapter goes on general release, and all they ask in return is for applicants to register their interest on the site.

The lucky few selected for the beta testing trials will be informed in early 2003, and shortly afterwards will be the proud recipients of a PS2 Network Adapter, a USB headset, and a copy of one of the first titles to make use of the service, SOCOM: US Navy Seals. Deep joy!

BT claim to have a 66% nationwide ADSL coverage in the UK so, despite their rampant advertising of late, we're not all ready for this gaming revolution quite yet. Let's just hope they get their proverbial fingers out in time for next year’s proposed roll-out.
