Sega of Japan has revealed an arcade version of Crazy Taxi 3 is in the works. As you might expect, it’s being developed for the Xbox compatible Chihiro arcade platform and we have some rather interesting details about it.
Firstly, two different cabinets will accompany the game, a standard upright version, with a plinth seat and a deluxe, sit-down model, featuring some mechanical movement.
Interestingly, our spies at Sega report that all Chihiro boards feature two Ethernet sockets, presumably one for link-up in the arcade and one for broadband access to the outside world. Further rumblings indicate that an Xbox Live add-on disc is to be released by Sega before summer of next year, which will feature compatibility with the Chihiro release.
Expect to see Crazy Taxi 3 in (swanky) arcades around the world before April of next year. And in the meantime, we’ll let you know if anything leaks out regarding the game’s online future.
