New GameCube Game Boy Player details spew forth
Nintendo of Japan has released the first clear details of what gamers can expect from the GameCube Game Boy Player, the device that enables Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance titles to be played on TV via the GameCube.

Interestingly, a boot disc will come with the player that will load the interface and scan the cartridge to ensure it’s an original Nintendo product.

In a move reminiscent of that made with the release of the Super Nintendo’s Super Game Boy, the borders can be adjusted, removed and tailored, as can the monochrome effect for original Game Boy games.

Alarmingly, a parental lock-out system is included that will enable concerned mums and dads to dictate the amount of playtime to their eager spawn.

Most interesting is a regional lock-out system in place within the player. According to reports breaking today, the machine will be able to differentiate between US, Europe and Japanese carts. As you may know, no Game Boy release has ever featured this in the past.
