S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Oblivion Lost has caused quite a stir amongst the PC FPS elite. Not only is it as eye-popping as a slow motion camera pan of Briana Banks laying bare-breasted on a beach, but the gameplay footage shown thus far suggests an experience unlike any other, with only the slightest nod in the direction of Deus Ex.

The game is a mysterious affair, which requires your character to enter 'The Zone' - an area which has been subject to nuclear fallout for some time, but has only now become just about safe enough to explore. The idea is heavily inspired by the Strugatsky brothers Roadside Picnic book.

Your goal is to explore the area using equipment you've bought, via selling artefacts and strange anomalies on the black market. Just in case you didn't realise, The Zone is completely uninhabited and has been like that for 20 years.

The Zone is a near faithful reconstruction of the Chernobyl atomic power plant and the 20-kilometer zone around it

The Strugatsky’s Roadside Picnic was written in the 1970’s and tells the tale of a stalker who sells artefacts on the black market that he’s found in The Zone, and is a very dark and creepy affair.

Meanwhile, we suggest you stalk the official site where you can download the trailers that are causing such a stir:
