Atari’s Unreal Tournament 2003 demo: popular is not the word

Atari today announced that the trial version of Unreal Tournament 2003, one of the most anticipated PC games of 2002, has already become one of the most popular game demo debuts of all time, with nearly 1.2 million downloads between its debut on Friday, September 13 and Wednesday, September 18. “Fans were waiting for the next big thing in action gaming, and the Unreal Tournament 2003 demo was just what they were looking for,” said Jean-Philippe Agati, senior vice president and head of Infogrames Los Angeles studio. “We couldn’t be happier with the popularity of the title. The new game completely lives up to its Game of the Year heritage."

Unreal Tournament 2003 for PC is due for UK release on October 4. With over 30 new environments, 50 unique characters, new game modes such as Bombing Run and Double Domination, as well as an all-new graphics engine, UT2003 is going to be massive.
