PocketStation canned
Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has announced that it will be discontinuing production of the PocketStation, the PlayStation memory card equipped with an LCD display.

A Japan-only release in 1998, the item shifted a respectable 4.8 million units in its four years on sale. It’s main lure was the fact that it enabled PlayStation owners to download and play mini games from PSX releases, as well as manage saved data through a visual interface.

Although this will have no bearing on our everyday lives as European gamers, it does show that the PSone is understandably slipping down Sony’s priority list.
