Concerns about the rise in football hooliganism in Japan have been highlighted by the impending release of a Japanese version of the Dutch-developed Hooligans: Storm Over Europe.
The PC game will carry the title Hooligans, and will be a Japanese-themed version of the original, that went on sale in Europe recently.
There has been a rise in football hooliganism in Japan that has made the headlines of late. The impending release of Hooligans has stirred up a hornets nest of new debate.
"It is wrong to believe the game would trigger crime as it is for use in computers, and players will be adults who know it is only in a virtual world,” said MicroMouse, the company publishing the game in Japan. “Things would be different if it was for Nintendo's Game Boy consoles, which many children play on."
