While a PS4 release for Diablo III has been announced and it wouldn't be at all unreasonable to expect an Xbox One release to follow at some point, there's been no word on it. Now, a couple of retail listings have popped suggesting it's on the way, though Blizzard is remaining coy on the matter.Eurogamer
followed a reader's tip to an Argos listing
for the game (which pegs it as an 'online exclusive), and a listing was up on the Canadian Best Buy site, though it's since been removed.
Blizzard responded in a statement (reported by VG247
) saying, "One of our goals is to bring Diablo 3
to as many players as possible, but we donít have any other platform announcements to share at this time."
That's 'no announcements', not even 'no plans'. Given the rarity of true platform exclusives nowadays it seems unlikely that Blizzard has developed the game for next-gen without any plans for the Xbox One. That doesn't mean, however, that Argos and Best Buy necessarily have inside information. Retailers often speculatively list products and mock up box art.
So, file it as a 'maybe' for now.
