MORRISVILLE, N.C., July 6, 1998 – Following a highly successful showing of its new fall titles at May’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Red Storm Entertainment, one of the world’s fastest-growing and innovative publishers of interactive games for PC, console and other entertainment products, today announced a distributor agreement with Take 2 Interactive Software Europe Ltd., a leading European publisher and distributor of computer and console games.
The contract, effective immediately, makes Take 2 Interactive Software Europe the exclusive distributor of Red Storm Entertainment’s upcoming PC and console games in Europe, Africa, Israel, Australia and New Zealand. This includes all of Red Storm Entertainment’s fall PC releases, such as Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six, Dominant Species and Tom Clancy’s ruthless.com, which incorporate full 3-D graphics, multiplayer capabilities, and, in the case of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six, a seamless combination of strategic and action gameplay.
The agreement also includes distribution of Red Storm Entertainment’s upcoming European-developed Sony PlayStationä version of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six. Scheduled for release this September, this version of the game will bring the realistic action that Tom Clancy is known for to a whole new generation of gamers. It will be the first of many Red Storm Entertainment titles developed for the console market.
The deal was made a few weeks after Red Storm Entertainment successfully previewed its acclaimed line-up of titles at the annual E3 show in Atlanta. The company enjoyed an enthusiastic response from retail buyers and media from all over the world, who predicted that the new games would be some of the hottest products on the global interactive entertainment market during the second half of 1998 and beyond.
“Red Storm Entertainment is committed to reaching as many European game fans as possible,” said Doug Littlejohns, president and CEO of Red Storm Entertainment. “With its excellent track record, impressive growth and wide-ranging access to the world’s leading retailers, Take 2 Interactive Software Europe is the best company to help us do this.”
“We are delighted to be distributing the Red Storm catalog of games, as they sit comfortably within our existing portfolio. Tom Clancy needs no introduction, and an association with Tom Clancy-endorsed titles is another exciting challenge for the company,” commented Gary Lewis, vice president, International sales, Take 2.
A successful track record and strong distribution contacts were two of the reasons Red Storm Entertainment selected Take 2 Interactive Software Europe as its European distributor. The partnership with Take 2 Interactive Software Europe further solidifies Red Storm Entertainment’s ties to the global market. Last year, Red Storm Entertainment announced a long-term agreement with British media organization Pearson plc. Recently, the company reached an agreement with Cary, N.C.-based SouthPeak Interactive, which will serve as the company’s North American distributor.
“In expanding our reach to countries outside of North America, we wanted to select a prestigious electronic games distributor,” said Mike Lomas, general manager, Europe, of Red Storm Entertainment Limited. “There was no question that company should be Take 2 Interactive Software.”
