Older Eidos IP can be used in crowd funded games

Square Enix Teams Up with Indiegogo
Square Enix has teamed up with crowd-funding organisation Indiegogo to produce an initiative called, rather startlingly if you're into Star Trek, the Collective.

It actually strikes as quite a bold scheme that Square describes as, "a curated platform that enables creators to post ideas, and gamers to judge whether those ideas should become reality or not. Every idea that's successful with the community is checked and helped by Square Enix, while a partnership with world-leading crowdfunding platform Indiegogo enables gamers to then back the ideas they love the most."

By 'curated' it means - selected as most likely to be profitable but that's all to the good if it means that we start to see some decent games created using old Eidos IP.

The process for independent devs also seems like a decent one: "Submitting a pitch is free, although you will need to accept some terms and conditions. Collective encourages an open development process, and as much transparency and communication with the community around decision-making during the development phase as possible."

Check it out here.
