Ubisoft has sent out an update on the release dates of Assassin's Creed IV and the PS4 version is launching on November 22nd, a week before the console itself will be available. That will mean it's out on the same day as the Xbox One version (not to mention the Xbox One itself).
Additionally, the Wii U version has been pushed back to launch alongside the Xbox One and PS4 SKUs.
A statement from Ubisoft reads, “The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions will be available on November 1st. Versions for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and Wii U will be available on November 22nd.”
SPOnG has been in touch with Ubisoft and confirmed that that's not a typo and the PS4 version will, in fact, be out before its host console. Retailers will, of course, be free to sit on the stock until the hardware launches.
The Wii U version had previously been expected to launch alongside the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. There was no explanation for the delay. This also gives us a firm date for the PC version, which previously was just expected around the end of the year.
But, enough of all that. Have a new trailer:
