Imagine if you will playing Xbox One exclusive first-person-Rome'em-Up title Ryse: Son of Rome with only a Kinect! Well it nearly happened.According to Brian Chambers and Patrick Esteves of Crytek the game, which is a FPS (Sworder) using a Roman backdrop and lots of Kinect-based violence went through a number of different iterations after being shown off at E3 in 2010. "It certainly started out as a first-person game, and we were toying with various ideas as to how we could blend the point-of-view with the potential of Kinect," we're told before the weird detail cuts in.
Speaking on
Xbox Wire the chaps state that, "There were various suggestions on the table, and that ultimately led to the creation of three prototype versions of the game – one played exclusively with Kinect, a second that combined Kinect and controller, and then one final version that was not only played with controller, but that also showed our lead character, Marius, on screen."
