E3 2013: Star Wars: Battlefront, Plants Versus Zombies Lead EA Conference
Electronic Arts had a rather interesting showcase at E3 this year, choosing to open its conference with PopCap games. As well as the already-announced Plants Versus Zombies 2, the studio is working on a third-person action shooter called Plants Versus Zombies: Garden Warfare.

A clear pastiche of 'certain other military shooters', Garden Warfare includes elements of tower defence by allowing players (controlling characters from the original iOS game) to place sunflowers and peashooters in the world map. You can also shoot zombies down yourself, and work in co-op to take out large waves of enemies.

The second big surprise was the announcement of a Star Wars: Battlefront game by DICE. All we were shown was a brief ten-second video of Hoth's landscape, along with the logo. That was enough to make people lost their shit.

Dragon Age: Inquisition (coming Autumn 2014), Battlefield 4 and a host of EA Sports titles (NBA Live 14, Madden 14, UFC and FIFA 14) made up the bulk of the conference reveals, with Battlefield 4 in particular wowing the crowd by showing off a 64-player multiplayer stage in action.

And then of course, there was the announcement of a new Mirror's Edge game, as well as a new Need for Speed.
