Sony showed off some impressive Remote Play features between PlayStation 4 and PS Vita during its February reveal event. According to a new report, the ability to play games off-TV using your Vita will be one that will be included in nearly every single game developed for the platform. This is because Sony has apparently mandated Remote Play as a requirement for PS4 development. The only exception are in games that use the new console's bundled Eye camera. The system's has been built specifically so that it can handle the beaming of gameplay from the PS4 to Vita without impacting resources that developers will want to take advantage of.
"Up until now, the question has been to what extent publishers would want the feature enabled - conceivably, opening up a new library of software for Vita could steal sales from games designed for the system," reads the report on
Eurogamer.
"The news that Sony is mandating support for all titles that don't require the camera takes the choice away from the publishers and ensures a level of consistency in the features that the majority of games offer."
If true, it will be a great boost to the Vita's relevance in terms of AAA portability, and will also elevate it as a decent companion device for high-profile console games. Of course, if Remote Play can come to the Vita relatively painlessly, you have to wonder if there are any devices that can take advantage of this feature...
