Sony's PS4 lead architect, Mark Cerny, has a good track record in talking up the new console and he's really let rip now.He has already claimed that, among other things, the PS4 will be a 'super-charged PC' (it'll have lots of memory) and that "Our belief is that by the middle of the PlayStation 4 console lifetime, asynchronous compute is a very large and important part of games technology." But he has also made a much, much bolder statement regarding the machine's upcoming launch.
"The launch lineup for PlayStation 4 -- though I unfortunately can’t give the title count -- is going to be stronger than any prior PlayStation hardware," great news! The reason for this is that the PC-like architecture of the console is familiar to developers.
Fingers crossed everybody!
