Let's hope for the sake of the pirates in Ubisoft's next installment of the Assassin's Creed property that their ships are not a leaky as the French-based publisher apparently is. Assassin's Creed 4 is subtitled 'Black Flag' in homage to the seminal US West Coast punk band lead by the piratical Henry Rollins. No of course it isn't. It is subtitled 'Black Flag' according to leaks and it does involve pirates...
Apparently the game will be out 'next fiscal year'. That begins on April 1st 2013. Also, says
Kotaku, the poster (pictured) "will be on store walls on Monday, March 4". That all seems remarkably soon to us. Maybe it's being rushed out to beat the "New Consoles" rush at the end of the year.
The Examiner is tying in a Ubisoft
Assassin's Creed event being held today (
Svend is going for us) to the announcement of
AC4.
Apparently also confirming the piratey nature of the game is a map of the Caribbean, which was a heavily pirated area in the 16th and 17th centuries before being taken over by 1970s and 1980s US West Coast Punk bands...
More when we get it.
