Familiarity has beaten innovation in this week's UK Video Game Chart, as Nintendo's Wii U was nowhere to be found in the Top 10. While multi-platform software sales rose on the back of the new console launch, exclusives such as ZombiU and New Super Mario Bros. U failed to debut higher than #11.
That honour goes to Nintendo Land, a game packaged with Premium versions of the Wii U hardware. UKIE GfK Chart-Track is unclear as to whether bundle pack-ins are factored into the game's chart position, but it would make sense if they were. While Nintendo Land reaches #11, Mario can only jump as high as #14, with ZombiU hitting #17.
Call of Duty: Black Ops II continues to storm the chart, as it sticks to the #1 spot for the third week running despite a 35 per cent sales decline week-on-week (which doesn't mean an awful lot, considering Chart-Track does not publicly divulge sales numbers). Ubisoft's Far Cry 3 performed well in its first week, reaching #2 and becoming the ninth biggest launch of 2012.
