Nintendo has announced that it will be launching a free DLC pack to users of New Super Mario Bros. 2 on the 3DS. This pack will add a bunch of classic courses from the original Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. 3 on the NES. Retro, baby!
The new pack comes as the company announced, via a new Nintendo Direct video, that 300 billion coins have been collected in the 3DS game so far. The levels will form a pack called the Golden Classic Course, with five remade levels from the NES era included. Not only that, but they'll be re-interpreted to spit out hundreds of coins to suit the narrative of New Super Mario Bros. 2.
If you're curious, the levels included are World 1-1, 1-2 and 1-4 from Super Mario Bros., and World 1-1 and 1-5 from Super Mario Bros. 3. The pack is available now in Japan, with no word on a Western launch. But if we don't see it over here soon, we'll eat our little red and green hats!
