Hollywood claims another video game license! Panorama Media is winding back the clock and choosing to bring retro classic, Wolfenstein, to the big screen. The film, titled
Castle Wolfenstein, will be written and directed by Roger Avary. Avary co-wrote elements of
Pulp Fiction with Quentin Tarantino, and was also a producer for
True Romance and the
Resident Evil films. So he has some pedigree, at least.
The plot focuses on a young U.S. Army captain and a British special agent, who are tasked with infiltrating Castle Wolfenstein to uncover Hitler's new secret weapon. But they encounter the "SS Paranormal Division" and must fight to survive and to accomplish their mission. Probably in amazingly cheesy ways, too.
Avary said in a press release that
Wolfenstein's "outlandish sensibility has deeply influenced my own writing and directing throughout my career." So yeah, we can expect all kinds of silliness. But hopefully, realistic silliness (does that even make sense?).
