Games journalism veteran Kieron Gillen was crowned Games Media Legend at last night's Games Media Awards ceremony in London.
The announcement of the writer's accolade prompted standing ovations from a generation of games press members weaned on his inventive style of feature writing.
The Games Media Awards 2012, hosted at Vinopolis, was a much less controversial affair than last year, where top sponsor Grainger Games unleashed condoms onto unsuspecting attendees.
But 2011's antics made for good material for 2012's host Russell Kane, who also poked fun at adventure games and the X-Factor.
