Earth Defence Force 4 Allows for Large-Scale Multiplayer Battles

Fantastically cheesy alien-busting action shooter, Earth Defence Force, is returning with EDF4 hitting Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2013. And new details reveal a game that is set to support multiplayer on a massive scale.
Fresh details from a Famitsu preview (translated by Gematsu) show off some screenshots and soldier types that players can use to fend the alien invasion off from the planet.
Rangers are all-purpose ground combat units that are handy with all types of weaponry, while Wing Divers specialise in air combat. Enemies you'll face include giant ants, bipedal robots and wasp spiders. Nasty.
The game will be set eight years after the events of EDF3 (Armageddon was a spinoff), and will accommodate online multiplayer "for a large number of people", although specifics on what the online mode might entail have yet to be revealed.
