The market has spoken - in French - and that market has said that (Internet) Always-On DRM (Digital Rights Managment) is a crap idea. This message finally made it way to Ubisoft in June although the company behind Brit-slaughtering history-fest Assassin's Creed 3* hasn't mentioned it until now.Speaking to RPS, Ubisoft’s worldwide director for online games, Stephanie Perlotti, points out that:
“We have listened to feedback, and since June last year our policy for all of PC games is that we only require a one-time online activation when you first install the game, and from then you are free to play the game offline.”
So, what exactly does this mean? Well, the Ubisoft rep first points out that if you want to do online things like play online, use multiplayer online or shop with Ubisoft online... you will have to be online. However, "if you want to enjoy Assassin’s Creed III single player, you will be able to do that without being connected. And you will be able to activate the game on as many machines as you want.”
