Limbo Studio's Next Game "At Least Two Years Away"
Project 2 might feature ideas cut from Limbo.
Limbo developer PlayDead has revealed that its next game, known only as Project 2 right now, won't be finished for another two years. The studio's has said that it will be more than happy to delay the release of its upcoming title until it feels that the quality is up to snuff.
Game director Arnt Jensen explained that PlayDead "took a lot of financial risk to release Limbo only when we felt it was ready, and we are prepared to do [the same] again." The independent studio has received grant funding from the Danish government to develop Project 2, so probably won't be resting on its laurels all the same.
Some details have been revealed about just what Project 2 could entail, however. The official website says that the game "tells the story of a boy’s struggle against evil forces trying to take over the world through questionable experiments on human bodies".
If it sounds a bit like Limbo, you'll be interested to know that PlayDead may use features originally intended for its first game. "We always experiment with ideas. Many ideas were cut, right up until the very end. We’re still working with some of the ideas that didn’t make it into Limbo".
