We've always wondered why Tetsuya Nomura kept talking about Final Fantasy Versus XIII, but never really actually showed much for it. Well, if words from an alleged inside source at Square Enix are true, this might explain why - the game has been cancelled.According to blog
Kotaku, Nomura's project, "as originally intended, is done for". The game was apparently canned several weeks ago, with the development team behind it moved over to work on
Final Fantasy XV instead.
Square Enix is reportedly said to be worried about any affect that a formal announcement may have on its stock price, so is planning to simply keep quiet about it and "let
Final Fantasy Versus XIII die quietly on the vine and fade away".
The publisher has declined to comment.
