Electronic Art's PC storefront, Origin, is to get a bit of a makeover soon, with the company revealing that version 9.0 of the client aims to make the experience on the platform a little less... well, cack. The big improvement made to Origin is in its overall performance and UI design changes. You can discover information on games more easily thanks to a new hover card that provides the option to download or install various titles, and your game library can be resized so that images can be as small or as big as you like.
The friends list has also had an overhaul, no longer attached to the side of the client but rather as its own floaty box of social connectivity. If you don't fancy talking to friends, that box can be hidden from view.
Best of all, though, the new Origin 9.0 will feature... a clock! "Many of you will also be happy to hear that we've heeded your requests and moved forward production of our in-game clock," reads the EA blog announcement. "Bring up Origin In-Game in 9.0 and you’ll see it featured prominently in the upper right-hand corner."
Amazing. You can opt in to the Origin 9.0 Beta early by following the
