Nintendo Reveals 3DS Summer Software Lineup
When Nintendo's 3DS XL launches on July 28, it won't be alone. The company has announced that a slew of new titles will be released in the months to come that will complement the larger-screened device.

Nintendo of Europe president Satoru Shibata announced that Square Enix's Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance will be released on July 20, with a demo available on Nintendo' eShop. The exec also highlighted demos of Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy and Heroes of Ruin.

Hoping to replicate some of the casual market success that the Nintendo DS attracted, Shibata also announced New Art Academy, which will be released alongside the 3DS XL on July 28. The improvements in this edition include new lessons, materials like coloured pencils and pastels, creation and lesson sharing over SpotPass as well as custom lesson creation. New lessons are planned as DLC, with the first from one of Nintendo's own artists detailing how to draw a Goomba from Super Mario Bros.

Speaking of Goombas, New Super Mario Bros 2 will hit stores on August 17, but will also be made available as a downloadable title on Nintendo eShop. Shibata revealed a new Coin Rush mode which gives players just one life and an extremely tight time limit to complete stages and collect as many coins as possible.

Other new 3DS software announced included a new edition of popular eShop title Freakyforms, set for retail and offering more multiplayer options as well as a dungeon mode. SEGA also announced a free Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games application called Virtual Card Album, where players can collect over 70 cards on the system. Play points, Streetpass and wireless connection in various locations will unlock rare cards. If you complete the set before September, you get a bonus card.
