Ubisoft announced its intention to be one of the most prominent third party publishers on Nintendo's upcoming Wii U console tonight, as it was the first company to show off its projects for the system at its E3 press conference tonight. Leading the charge was a full demonstration of Rayman Legends.
The tablet controller for the new console - now officially known as the Wii U GamePad - will be used in co-op to help other players progress through colourful platforming stages. The tablet-wielder controls a green flying character named Murphy, who can be directed by drawing a finger around on the Wii U GamePad touch screen.
Swiping Murphy across vines and into obstacles will smash them apart and lead to climbable vines, which other players (controlling Rayman and Globox) will be able to use to swing across chasms. Up to five players will be able to play together in this manner. Murphy will also be able to clamp onto enemies' heads to confuse them, leaving them open to attack.
The game is looking absolutely beautiful, and also showed great control with the Wii U Pro Pad, revealed earlier today by Nintendo.
More details as we get them.
