Capcom has a major hit on its hands with RPG Dragon's Dogma - not only did it perform well in the UK Video Game Chart, but it has topped the Japanese Software Chart for the week as well. The game sold an eye-popping 331,064 units (!) across the PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms, with 302,040 of those dedicated to Sony's home console.
Mario Tennis Open came in at a very respectable #2, selling a very tasty 101,645 units in its debut week. A Broccoli PSP title lands in at #3 and the Xbox 360 version of Dragon's Dogma takes #4, in a Top 10 dominated by new releases. Namco Bandai's new Idolmaster entered the chart at #6, while Capcom's Xbox 360 release of Monster Hunter Frontier - once highly anticipated, and much-publicised on announcement - doesn't fare as well as its other major release, selling less than 10,000 units.
On the hardware front, the 3DS has had a surge in sales thanks to Mario Tennis and the continued presence of Fire Emblem Awakening in the Software Chart. It increases its lead over its nearest competitor, the PS3, by a good margin - despite the PS3 also experiencing a sales lift.
