Sony is once again sticking it to the retail man, by launching PlayStation Ultimate Editions. These are full PS3 game downloads with all the DLC packed in. Essentially, Game of the Year editions without the disc. Or the stupid name. Ultimate sounds much more appropriate.
The selection of games on offer isn't too shabby, either: Red Dead Redemption, inFAMOUS 2, BioShock 2, MotorStorm Apocalypse, Call of Duty: Black Ops, L.A. Noire, Mafia II, Just Cause 2 and Mortal Kombat all get the Ultimate Edition treatment.
Prices range from $27.99 to an eye-watering $66.49 (for Black Ops, natch), but Sony is promoting a 30% discount for all users, with a 50% discount for those subscribed to PlayStation Plus. This will probably be one of the major talking points that Jack Tretton will spend time on when doing his usual 'waffle before the actual announcements' segment during Sony's E3 conference next week.
