The inevitable is happening: EA has confirmed the existence of Dead Space 3 during a financial call the other day, and reports floating around the web are suggesting that Isaac's latest space thriller will include gunfights with human opponents and a drop-in co-op mode.Apparently, the premise of the third game will suit the nature of co-op well - in the campaign mode, Isaac crashes with a companion and will be forced to explore an alien environment, sharing weapons and ammo. The kicker here is that, according to earlier reports, Isaac's mental state will deteriorate over the course of the game, with his 'companion' being nothing more than a figment of his imagination.
Dead Space 3 will also be leaning to present more of an action experience, with the ability to crouch, roll and take cover. Weapons such as the Plasma Cutter and Pulse Rifle will have new alternate fire modes - the former including knockback and the latter firing off sawblades.
Humans will feature as enemies, alongside Necromorphs - and there will be moments in the game where players will encounter areas filled with humans, only to be transformed into Necromorphs during the course of battle. Creepy.
Whether these details are real or a load of cobblers, expect a full reveal at E3 next month.
