Electronic Arts has released what it calls an "Indie Bundle" package on PC game service Steam. The six games included consist of Deathspank, Deathspank: Thongs of Virtue, Gatling Gears, Shank, Shank 2 and Warp. All decent enough games, but the use of the word 'indie' has raised heated debate. It could be argued that the studios developing the titles are independent enough, but conversely EA's involvement could be seen to render these projects in particular as decidedly not 'indie' in terms of corporate philosophy.
Whichever way you see it, the argument for semantics has won EA a lot of attention for its rather nicely-priced bundle pack. Which, one could argue, may have been the point all along. The six games on offer are available for £14.38, which is a saving of £33.56 if you had purchased each individually. Quite a bargain.
