Yesterday people were writing about 'the Dark Side' of the digital games economy as EA apparently brought and end to the ability of Apple iOS devices to play the very much paid for iOS version of Rock Band. EA has issued a response."
Rock Band for iOS will remain live - the in-app message users received yesterday was sent in error. We apologize for the confusion this caused. We're working to clarify the issue that caused the error and will share additional information as soon as possible".
An error. Fair enough. Or is it? The wording from yesterday reads:
"Dear Rockers, On (sic) May 31, Rock Band will no longer be playable on your device. Thanks for rocking out with us."
That is either one hell of a typo (unlikely); the sound of a disgruntled employee with access to the Rock Band code on your, device (bad) or the vision of a future that EA can and may well unleash (really bad) as servers are closed.
