Sega expands into movie business
Sega has just announced that it is currently underway with a brand new movie project. Described as a short CG film, the project is called JAM and is pencilled in for release in June 2002.

Sega said that the project has been internally funded on a shoestring budget of 70 million yen, around £320,000. JAM, whatever it is, will receive a cinematic release and DVD release throughout Asia. Exactly what the film is, and whether it will be released in the US or Europe remains undisclosed.

Sega has also confirmed that the JAM project would be used by the company as a barometer on the viability of future movie projects. The company has declared that it wants to generate around £5 million per year from movie projects as of 2003.

More as we get it.
