Jordan Mechner Discovers Original Prince of Persia Source Code
It's always nice when you do some spring cleaning and discover some old treasure that you forgot you had. In the case of legendary developer Jordan Mechner, that treasure happens to be in the form of the original, long-lost Apple II source code for Prince of Persia. What a find!

The discovery was made by Jordan's dad, who was having a cleanout in his New York home and discovered a box full of floppy discs and old games. "The carton arrived yesterday. My jaw dropped when I saw what was inside," Jordan wrote on his blog.

"The ORIGINAL APPLE II SOURCE CODE OF PRINCE OF PERSIA that I’ve been searching for, off and on, for the past ten years, pestering everyone from Doug Carlston to Danny Gorlin and everyone who ever worked at Broderbund, and finally gave up hope of ever finding.

"I KNEW it wasn’t like me to throw stuff out!"

Jordan announced that he will be working to transfer the old Apple II code to a modern format so that the source project can be distributed online. "This is a crazy busy time (in a good way) with too many projects," he warns, "so it might take a little while." Good luck, Jordan!
