SEGA-AM2, the legendary arcade studio behind manly and testosterone-fuelled games such as Virtua Fighter and Daytona USA, has finally come out of hiding and is working on a brand new project! Hurrah! Hold on to your butts though - it's a Hatsune Miku game for the Nintendo 3DS. Yep.AM2 head Makoto Osaki and director Motoshi Takabe chat about the game,
Hatsune Miku Future Stars, with Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata. The game seems to be an idol/music game in the same vein as
Project Diva Arcade, which Osaki was also involved in. The 3DS camera can also be used for augmented reality interactivity, with Nendoroid figures popping out into the real world using AR cards.
Although this 3DS game is full of primary colours and exceptionally cute/fanservice virtual girls, AM2 did reveal that there's a little bit of the old studio inside
Hatsune Miku Future Stars. The technology used for the game and the Miku live concert videos comes straight from
Virtua Fighter.
SPOnG reviewed the latest Project Diva PSP late last year -
