For some reason, Activision sees it appropriate to make a game about Battleships. The board game. Don't put the blame squarely on the publisher though - it's a movie tie-in. Yep, someone decided that it was a good idea to make a film about Battleships. Lord help us.Double Helix Games is heading development on the DS, 3DS, Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii. Battleshit - sorry, Battleship - is going to feature a storyline that's stand-alone from that of the movie. It will provide a "blend of strategic naval command and first-person action gameplay." That's nice.
Here's the game's description in full. "Battleship follows elite demolitions specialist Cole Mathis as he clashes against an aquatic-based extraterrestrial peril in the sand and sea of the beautiful Hawaiian archipelago. Trapped in a veritable communications dead zone, Mathis must command the U.S. Navy fleet in a “siege on the sea,” while simultaneously rallying the troops on land for a terrifying “war on the shore.""
Sounds immense. The game will land on 360 and PS3 in May.
