Free-to-Play Microsoft Flight Reboot Dated
Microsoft's free-to-play revamp of its Flight simulator software will launch worldwide on 29th February.

The game will "let players jump into the challenge, thrill, and wonder of flight with no special hardware or past experience," according to the press release Microsoft sent out.

If the bare bones version of the game isn't your thing, you will also be able to purchase the first content pack on launch day - a selection of additional planes and the Hawaiian Islands territory. You'll need to be able to sign into Games for Windows LIVE to be able to access the expansions, however.

Flight Simulator has been a big money-maker for both Microsoft and the independent developers that create expansion content for it. This free-to-play version shakes things up by only allowing expansion content to be accessed via GfW, which some indie studios have claimed will have a negative impact on the development community. Microsoft, for its part, says that it will offer a programme for other studios to offer expansion content soon.
