Electronic Arts has hit its $1 billion digital revenue target for the year, pleasing CEO John Riccitiello no end and highlighting the increasing importance of the digital space. The publisher reached its milestone by offering content across mobile platforms, social networks and online services on home consoles.Because of the success in the sector, EA confirmed that it will be integrating the standalone digital division into the rest of its games labels, ensuring that every product has a distinct online good strategy.
"We empowered our creative teams, strengthened our IP and made progress in building a digital platform for our games and services," Riccitiello said.
"One year ago, we set a stretch goal to grow our digital business to $1 billion annually. I’m proud to say that we achieved that goal in Calendar Year 2011. Crossing the $1 billion threshold is an incredibly important milestone – congratulations!”"
