Ridge Racer Vita DLC Plans Revealed
Japanese gamers twiddling their thumbs until mid-February.
Namco Bandai will be supporting its budget (in both price and content) Ridge Racer game for PlayStation Vita with a heavy stream of downloadable content. Japanese magazine Famitsu has the grab on exactly what those DLC plans are, and... well, let's just say Japanese gamers will be stuck with five cars and three tracks until at least February.
The first content pack will land on 22nd December and will feature the playable demo from E3 2011, along with music from R4. There will be no less than five additional packs released over January, each containing... more music.
It's not until 16th February when Japanese gamers will get the opportunity to obtain content that extends the life of the portable racer. But this will come in the form of the Ridge Racer Pass that will allow users to pre-order all downloadable content between February and May. It will cost ¥1,600.
Finally, on 23rd February Namco Bandai will kick out the Car 1 Promessa (¥250) and the Course 1 Old Central (¥400) content packs. As well as another music bundle. From then, an additional seven cars, five courses, nine music packs and several songs and medleys will be made available until May.
The delay in content might not affect Western gamers, with the PlayStation Vita's US launch pinned to 22nd February and the European launch after that. But it's a big test of patience for early adopters in Asia, who may tire of the small selection of courses and cars until then.
