Liverpool-based Rage Software has had a torrid time on the stock exchange, following a dismal first showing of David Beckham Soccer for PlayStation and Game Boy Advance. The game only managed to reach number nine in the PlayStation chart and a dismal 17 in the GBA chart.
In the all-formats chart, the game only managed to reach number 40, a poor, poor showing. The main problem that Rage faces is recouping the masses of cash the company has ploughed into David Beckham Soccer. Rage saw fit to spend a massive £500,000 on marketing alone and upped its mastering production run by 20%
"David Beckham is currently the most famous sports star in the country, if not the world today, and we are delighted to be making his only officially endorsed range of video games,” said Glen O’Connell, Communications Director at Rage, before the game was released.
Unfortunately, Mr O'Connell was unavailable to comment at the time of writing.
