Nintendo Offers Stripped-Down Wii for UK
Nintendo has sent out its GamesCom press release this morning, more on that later. At the bottom of the release is the following wording regarding a new Wii for Europe:

"Those looking for the perfect present for all the family this Christmas can look no further than the new value Wii bundle.

"It not only offers great value to European fans, but introduces a streamlined Wii console with a slightly altered configuration**, which is designed to sit horizontally, rather than vertically. The bundle includes the newly configured Wii console in white, a Wii Remote Plus controller, Nunchuk, and copies of Wii Sports and Wii Party.

"A number of other Wii bundles will be announced this autumn, all offering great value for the family this Christmas."

The ** in the message indicates: " "Please note that the new configuration Wii is no longer compatible with Nintendo GameCube software or accessories".

The new Wii is at the moment priceless.

We mean that it has no price... more when we get it.

Meanwhile the full press release, which will be cannibalised all over the web... is right here.

If they put a DVD player in it then it would act as a very good budget DVD and entertainment system. we have moved our wii to the bedroom TV to watch I player on it! It will be a shame to loose game cube compatibility but i understand why.
