A student who was attacked and robbed during London riots on Monday is to get his PSP replaced, courtesy of Sony Computer Entertainment UK.Ashraf Haziq, a Malaysian student living in the capital, was lying dazed in an alleyway when a gang of youths appeared to help him off the ground. Shortly afterwards his backpack was ransacked and a number of possessions - including a PSP and several games - were taken from him.
A video of the incident went viral this week, and
a website has been set up to raise money and get his lost items back. A message from Alan Duncan, managing director at PlayStation UK, offered to "give him a new PSP and games," and asked for a method of getting in direct contact with Ashraf.
SPOnG contacted SCEE and has verified that the message, from Tumblr user albinolove33, is indeed from the Sony executive himself. The gesture seems to have had a positive response on the website - and it's great to see this sort of goodwill happen from communities and companies alike.
