The cancelled True Crime: Hong Kong project has unexpectedly been revived, with United Front Games getting the backing of Square Enix to complete the action title and slap it onto store shelves. Someone get the champagne, please! You may remember that the latest in the pretty mediocre crime syndicate series was in the making at United Front for three years before Activision pulled the plug on it back in February. Ironically, the Canadian developer is being looked after by Square Enix London Studios.
According to
reports, the revived game will get a name change due to Activision still holding the
True Crime IP licence.
Of course, SPOnG
had a look at the game back in 2010, and it wasn't particularly inspiring. Will Square Enix's involvement give it a kick up the arse? Well, we wouldn't hold our breath.
