"Darkstalkers are not Dead" - that was the message sent to fighting game fans around the world at the Street Fighter X Tekken panel during San Diego's Comic Con yesterday.
Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono was reported to have announced that a new Darkstalkers game is in development - before a spokesperson for the company clarified that no announcements have actually been made. A bit confusing, that.
What the message indicates, instead, is an interest by the Japanese publisher to continue the underworld fighting series in some way. Quite frankly, there's no way someone like Ono-san posts a message like this without it meaning something tangible in the near future.
Something a bit more concrete - Ono-san was also said to have a desire to bring the Street Fighter Alpha series back in some way. Maybe it's worth sticking with just Street Fighter X Tekken and (maybe) Darkstalkers for now, mate.
